Major Arcana tarot guide — meanings of all 22 archetypal cards from The Fool to The World. Free academy lesson with links to each card.
The 22 Major Arcana cards map big life chapters — initiation, crisis, love,
justice, endings, renewal. They appear in every spread and often carry the loudest symbolic weight.
What Major Arcana represent
Think of Major cards as archetypes — The Fool’s leap, The Hermit’s retreat, Death’s transformation (rarely literal death), The Star’s repair. When several Majors appear in one spread, the reading may be describing identity-level change, not a minor Tuesday annoyance.
The Fool’s journey (0–21)
Traditional teaching arranges Majors as a hero’s path from innocence (The Fool) to integration (The World). You do not need to memorize the sequence to read well — but it helps you sense where in a story a card sits: early risk, mid-trial, late synthesis.

They often feel louder in a reading — life themes vs everyday detail — but both matter.
